The standard intercooler has a dual-pass core in which the flow is divided into two with the entrance and exit pipes on the same side. The cross-flow intercooler (fitted as standard to Viggen and High Output Turbo, HOT, engines of 200bhp and above) features twice the flow capacity over the standard with entry and exit pipes positioned at opposite ends.

This upgrade noticeably improves throttle response and a bhp gain of around 10bhp is not unusual on a 185bhp standard 1985cc turbo.
